As promised, here are the pictures from Iguazu Falls.  It is considered one of the "new" 7 wonders of the natural world.  The late U.S. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt was reportedly so impressed when she saw them she purportedly said, "Poor Niagara."

The park system has several unique trails, many parts which are raised metal walkway bridges meandering over rivers and the falls themselves.  It was the most amazing experience and I hope the pictures capture some of that.

Get prepared for waterfall overload!  I actually edited and limited the number of photos uploaded. My camera was smoking by the end of the day.  I'm going to grab myself a glass of wine while uploading because this may take a while.

Coati at the entrance:

Train ride to first trail leading to top of falls:

I read the bullets before reading the first line and said to Ginny, "They want us to stick our arms and legs outside the train and throw things?  How bizarre!"  Not many spoke English, but I'm pretty sure the man sitting across from us did because he was smiling broadly and silently belly laughing!

Long walkway over rivers leading up to falls:

Notice the end of horizon.  We're almost there!

Old bridgeway.  Here's where you pray about the competency of the engineers of current bridges.

Birds and butterflies were dive bombing into the mist:

Butterflies!

Train ride back to lower trails:

Heading into the lower trial:

Rainbows!
Rainbows and butterflies.  Life is good.

Notice boats lined up to go under falls:

Beautiful stone walkway going down to lower river:

Lighthouse between upper and lower circuits. This is below the falls.  Isn't it too late for warning by that point?

Entrance to upper circuit trail.  My favorite and most picturesque in my opinion:

Little critter on the trail:

Monkeys!

If ever a sign was not needed, one would think this would be the place:

Old bridge.  Removing them would calm the nerves a bit.  One hopes it was a slow decay and not an immediate collapse.

Hot water filling station for thermoses to make mate:

Reward at the end of the day:

Hope you enjoyed the pics and got a little sense of the falls.  It is so beautiful!  Waterfalls, butterflies and rainbows.  What more could there be?

Next I want to post the dogs of Ville Allende, and will edit before uploading.  Stay tuned.....

Against the background of 275 Iguazu Falls, surrounded by beautiful tropical nature (forest, palms, butterflies, monkeys, coatis, and multiple rainbows....) , any memories of my favorite (was my childhood dream destination) Niagara Falls look bleak shadow. This visit is a great point in your exploration of South America!
