Met Ginny at JFK with enough time for celebtarory beer at airport bar before heading on the airbus to Bunos Aires! Saw really cool lightening storm in the middle of night over South America. We got into BA hotel at 6pm, slept for 2 hours then headed out for a 6 hour bike tour through the city. People are wearing winter coats and scarves. It's chilly here, although not THAT chilly! Thankfully sunny today. The bicycle tour was a great way to see a lot of the city with limited time. We saw tango dancer street performers, an amazing cemetery where Avita is buried and it's all unique individual mosoleums, the ugliest building EVER build in 60's (go figure) and described as "brutalism" style (trust me, you'll spot it), lots of statues, a rose garden with over 500 unique roses, and lots of really cool neighborhood plazas and street vendors. Tons of neighborhood apartments, but very utilitarian. Everyone and their brother was out walking their dog today. We had matte during the tour. It's an indigenous drink that taste similar to green tea and is shared socially by many out of the same cup and straw. Uh.... sanitary issues. Also had AMAZING empañadas for lunch and a steak dinner with some sides and a bottle of wine far $50 - crazy! Overall, an amazing day in Buenos Aires!
Awesome!!How much fun! You two look great!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing day! On a bike tour - wow!
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing to me how much you can cover of the city with 15 million inhabitants in one day thanks to your bike tour! The mausoleums in the cemetery are fantastic!
